Get Involved: New U.S. TAG to Address Consumer Protection in the Field of Privacy by Design

3/03/2025

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages interested experts to participate in a new U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) related to consumer protection in the field of privacy by design.

The InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) recently formed a new technical committee that will serve as the U.S. TAG to ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1Information Technology, Subcommittee (SC) 44, Consumer protection in the field of privacy by design. The scope of the work is “standardization of consumer protection in the field of privacy by design for products, goods, and services, including their data lifecycles.”

The U.S. has a leadership role in JTC 1, with ANSI serving as the secretariat.

Interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend the first organizational meeting, which will be held virtually on March 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM (Eastern). Click here to register. The agenda, related documents, and instructions for joining the Zoom meeting will be distributed to those that have requested membership on the new committee.

For more information on joining the committee, contact Kim Quigley ([email protected]) and view the INCITS information sheet.
